Jean Hawthorn-DaCosta

Jean Hawthorn-DaCosta

Jean Marie Hawthorn-DaCosta was born in Manchester, Jamaica, a country for which she has a strong love and devotion. She was born in August of 1982 to Philip and Rose Hawthorn who had both come from Westmoreland. Her roots to country life has always been strong. Her dad tried his hand at many outdoor things; from farming coffee to raising ducks and pigs. Her mom nurtured in Jean her love for reading and fed her hungry appetite with lots and lots of books.

In 2017, she wrote and self-published her first children’s book, Jamaica in my Tummy. She enjoyed this outlet for creativity so much she shortly published a second book, My Toilet is Bigger Than Yours. During Covid -19 Jean restarted the Wordykids Book club as an online experience for children to read aloud and together and grow a love for books. Her third book Leroy Adventures of a Yaad Boy was published late 2022 by Blue Banyan Books along with what she calls the perfect edition of the revised Jamaica in My Tummy.
Jean continues to host the Wordykids Book club. She is a parent, business woman, wife and adult.
