Shakirah Bourne

Shakirah Bourne is a Barbadian writer, filmmaker, playwright, lover of bacon and mangoes. She is a recipient of the Governor General Award for Excellence in Literary Fiction, a Prime Minister’s Award, and is a three-time winner of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Award for Short Fiction which best represents Bajan Culture. Her short stories have been featured in several literary journals including Adda (Commonwealth Writers), The Caribbean Writer, POUI, and Journal of Caribbean Literatures. My Fishy Stepmom is her first novel for children and was a finalist in the 2018 CODE Burt Award for Caribbean Young Adult Literature.
