Thanks for your interest in Blue Banyan Books. We publish an exciting range of books for children including picture books, chapter books, collections as well as related colouring books and work books.
Take a look at our existing publications to get a look and feel for what we are about, but note that as we grow our range is expanding.
Entertaining stories are at the heart of what we are about, so even if you have a great idea for a book, if there isn’t a story in it, it’s not for us.
Manuscript Submission Guidelines
Blue Banyan is interested in stories that reflect the Caribbean, it’s people, culture, history and the contemporary realities but that are relevant to the rest of the world. We do accept unsolicited manuscripts and we review all proposals. No agents required. However, we are not able to personally respond to unsolicited proposals unless we are interested in pursuing the project.
Blue Banyan accepts submissions by mail or e-mail. However, we love trees so we prefer digital submissions, except for illustrations which must be submitted by mail. (See below for more detail on where to send).
We are not able to personally respond to unsolicited submissions unless we’re interested in publishing.
We know you want to hear from us, and waiting can be nerve-wracking but please allow three months for the editors to review a proposal.
Submitted materials will not be returned. Therefore, please do not include originals of any sort or any materials of value. Also, there is no need to include a self addressed, stamped envelope.
What to Include in Your Proposal
A one-page cover letter giving a brief description of the project, why you think Blue Banyan should publish it, what’s included in the package, and your contact information. We accept simultaneous proposal, but please indicate in your cover letter.
an exciting 250 – 300 word description of the book,
and sample of the text – for chapter books include no more than three (3) chapters
sample illustrations (if relevant and you have them).

Include author/illustrator/photographer biography (80–150 words) that includes publishing credits and credentials in the field.
If submitting by mail and you would like confirmation of receipt, please include a self-addressed stamped postcard for the editor to put in the mail upon receiving your proposal.
