.
Set in the world of high school track and field the book marries the coming of age and romance. It’s told from the perspective of two lead protagonists Kayla and Joel - both determined to be the best at the sport but driven by different demons.

“Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow, “Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.”
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.” Khalil Gibran

Tidings of bun and poetry ... A little tradition a Tidings of bun and poetry ... A little tradition and something new. Nothing says Good Friday in Jamaica like Easter Bun! But rather than the traditional spice bun we love that coconut bun from @alikklesliceofheaven - pure poetry for the belly. So it was perfect for the pairing with our first poetry month post.
.
So if Easter is your thing, have a blessed one. If you we still wish you a life filled with poetry.

Every child deserves to be able to see themselves Every child deserves to be able to see themselves reflected in books ... that’s not asking much. Every child deserves being represented beyond stereotype and to see other children the same way.

A part of the magic of books is that they can connect us and provide insight into our lives, our culture, our beliefs.

It is interesting how the term diverse has come to mean a particular group - kind of almost in opposition to the word. Yet, whether as writers, publishers, parents, caregivers, teachers, librarians - we all have a role to play in ensuring that children can access books that accurately and authentically represent their world as well as a space to travel to other worlds. The world is a diverse place, our books should be too.
